How Research Speed Changes Research Time

See how research speed changes the effective duration of a research upgrade and how available speedups reduce the adjusted time that remains.

Diagram showing how base research time, research speed bonuses, and available speedups determine remaining research time in Last War: Survival.
A +50% research speed bonus divides base time by 1.5. It does not reduce the original timer by 50%.

How research speed changes research time

Research speed reduces the effective duration of a research upgrade by increasing the rate at which research progresses.

The basic calculation is:

Adjusted Research Time = Base Research Time ÷ (1 + Research Speed Bonus)

For example, with a base research time of 24 hours and a +50% research speed bonus:

24 ÷ 1.5 = 16 hours

This is why a +50% research speed bonus does not simply subtract 50% from the original timer.

After the adjusted research time is calculated, available research speedups can be applied. If the adjusted time is 16 hours and you have 8 hours of applicable speedups, 8 hours remain.

Only include temporary bonuses that will actually be active when the research begins.
