How Research Speed Affects Time

See how increasing research speed reduces the effective duration of the same research upgrade.

Comparison showing how different research speed bonuses change a 24-hour base research timer in Last War: Survival.
Research speed uses a multiplier. A +100% research speed bonus makes research twice as fast, reducing a 24-hour base timer to 12 hours.

How research speed affects research time

Research speed does not reduce a timer by the same percentage shown in the bonus. Instead, the research progresses faster by the corresponding multiplier.

The formula is:

Adjusted Research Time = Base Research Time ÷ (1 + Research Speed Bonus)

Using a 24-hour base research timer:

  • +0% research speed = 24 hours
  • +25% research speed = 19.2 hours
  • +50% research speed = 16 hours
  • +100% research speed = 12 hours
  • +200% research speed = 8 hours

This is why adding another +50% research speed does not simply remove half of the original timer.

Research speed bonuses are applied to the base timer first. Research speedups can then be used against the resulting adjusted duration.

Only include temporary buffs that will actually be active when the research starts.
