Projected UIUC cumulative GPA

This diagram compares three GPA values on the 0–4.00 scale:

• Current GPA — your existing UIUC cumulative GPA from Student Self-Service
• Term GPA — the GPA earned in the courses entered in the calculator
• Projected GPA — the estimated new cumulative GPA if the term results are added

All three values share the same 0–4.00 scale, so the bars are directly comparable.

Why projected GPA is not a simple average

Projected cumulative GPA is calculated using combined grade points and combined GPA credits, not by averaging the current GPA and term GPA:

`Projected GPA = (Current GPA Credits × Current GPA + Term Grade Points) ÷ Combined GPA Credits`

This means a student with many existing credit hours will see their cumulative GPA move more slowly than a student with fewer existing hours, even if both earn the same term GPA.
