- How does the Accent Wall Calculator work?
- It calculates gross wall area, subtracts the entered area of doors and windows, applies the selected number of coats and waste allowance, then estimates paint quantity and project cost.
- Should I subtract doors and windows?
- Yes. Enter the combined square footage of openings that will not be painted. Leave the value at zero when the entire wall surface will be painted.
- Does the calculator round paint up to full cans?
- The calculator shows the estimated paint quantity as a decimal so the calculation remains transparent. Purchase quantities depend on the container sizes sold by the selected manufacturer.
- How many coats should an accent wall need?
- Two coats are common, but coverage can vary with color change, paint quality, surface porosity, primer, application method and the condition of the existing wall.
- Does the estimate include primer, trim or wall repairs?
- No. Add primer, masking materials, repairs, specialty finishes, tools, trim work, taxes and contractor minimum charges separately when they apply.
