How to Use This Calculator
Measure spread, main beams, normal points, and four circumference locations per side using the scoring system's exact instructions and quarter- or eighth-inch precision as required.
Formula & Methodology
Gross typical score adds spread credit, both main beams, normal point lengths, and circumference measurements. A net typical estimate subtracts side-to-side differences and entered abnormal points.
Worked example
A symmetrical rack with 18-inch spread, two 24-inch beams, four 8-inch normal points per side, and four 4-inch circumferences per side produces a 162-inch gross estimate.
This generic implementation supports five normal point fields per side and does not enforce every species-specific definition, spread-credit cap, point qualification rule, broken-point rule, velvet rule, or official rounding convention.
Unofficial recreational scoring aid. Follow wildlife laws and the current official scoring organization instructions for records or awards.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is gross typical score?
- It is the sum of eligible spread, beam, normal point, and mass measurements before typical deductions.
- What creates symmetry deductions?
- Differences between corresponding left and right beam, point, and circumference measurements.
- Are abnormal points added or deducted?
- Treatment depends on whether the rack is entered as typical or non-typical and on the scoring system. This typical estimate subtracts the entered abnormal total.
- Is this an official score?
- No. Official scoring requires the current score sheet and qualified measurement procedures.
