What Macros Are and Why They Matter
Macronutrients — protein, carbohydrates, and fat — are the three caloric nutrients. Each serves distinct functions:

Step 1: Calculate Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)

Step 2: Set a Calorie Target Based on Goal
Deficits above 750 kcal/day increase lean mass loss risk. Surpluses above 600 kcal/day accelerate fat gain. Slower adjustments preserve more muscle during cuts and less fat during bulks.
Step 3: Set Protein First
Protein is the most important macro for body composition. Set it first — the other macros fill the remaining calories.
