Select current and target Thieving levels. Enter XP per successful action, expected success rate, attempts per hour, reward value per success, and any cost per attempt. Use values that match the NPC, stall, chest, or method you actually train on.

Formula & Methodology

Successful actions needed equal XP remaining divided by XP per success and rounded up. Expected attempts equal successes divided by success rate and rounded up. Expected failures are attempts minus successes. Time divides attempts by attempts per hour. Gross reward value multiplies successes by reward value. Gross cost multiplies attempts by cost per attempt. Net value is reward value minus cost.

If a target requires 5,000 successful pickpockets and your expected success rate is 80%, the calculator estimates 6,250 attempts and 1,250 failures before time and value assumptions.

Thieving success chance can depend on level, target, Ardougne diary effects, equipment, Shadow Veil, dodgy necklaces, stuns, pathing, stalls, chests, minigames, and updates. The calculator does not automatically derive success chance or fetch live prices.

Use a success rate and attempts-per-hour figure that reflects your exact method. Actual outcomes can vary because individual steals are random.
