How to Use This Calculator
For a term-only calculation, leave current GPA credits and cumulative GPA at zero. For a projected cumulative result, copy the institutional GPA credits and GPA shown in My ASU. Exclude transfer and non-GPA coursework.
Formula & Methodology
Each course contributes grade points equal to its grade value multiplied by its credits. Term GPA is total term grade points divided by graded credits. Projected cumulative GPA combines current grade points with the new term.
Example: 45 GPA credits at 3.20
A student with 45 GPA credits at 3.20 has 144.00 current grade points. The default 10-credit example adds 38.32 grade points. The projected GPA is 182.32 / 55 = 3.31.

- What grading scale does Arizona State use?
- ASU assigns 4.33 to A+, but the cumulative GPA is capped at 4.00.
- How is the GPA calculated?
- Multiply each course's grade value by its credits, add the grade points, and divide by the graded credits.
- How are repeated courses treated?
- Eligible undergraduate D or E grades may be deleted from the ASU GPA after the course is repeated at ASU under the applicable repeat policy.
- Which grades should be excluded?
