How Research Works in Kingshot
Research in Kingshot is a core progression mechanic — unlocking stronger troops, better resource production, and enhanced combat capabilities. Research time scales with research tier; early unlocks take minutes while advanced research requires days.
Research Speed and Time Calculation
Base research time is shown before starting each research. Actual time is reduced by your current research speed bonus:
Actual Research Time = Base Time × (1 − Research Speed Bonus %)
Research speed bonuses come from: - Research Center level: Each level reduces research time by a fixed percentage - Castle level: Higher castle indirectly unlocks more research bonuses - Commander skills: Research-specific commanders accelerate research - Alliance tech: Alliance research bonuses apply to all members - Events: Time-limited research acceleration events - VIP: VIP status levels provide research speed bonuses
Example: Research with 12-hour base time, 40% speed bonus: Actual time = 12 × (1 − 0.40) = 7.2 hours
Speedup Types in Kingshot
Speedups are consumable items that immediately reduce timer countdowns:
- General speedups: Apply to any timer (research, building, training)
- Research speedups: Research-only application
- Building speedups: Construction only
General speedups are more valuable due to flexibility. Research-specific speedups are acceptable for long research queues.
Converting speedup time: - 60 × 1-minute = 1-hour - 3 × 8-hour = 1-day (24 hours)
There is no time-value difference between equivalent speedup denominations — 24 one-hour speedups equals one 24-hour speedup.
Research Priority Guide
Early Game (Castle 1–15): 1. Economy research: Resource production, gathering speed 2. Construction research: Building speed 3. Troop research: T1 and T2 unlock
Mid Game (Castle 15–25): 1. T3 troop research (major power spike) 2. Troop attack and defense research 3. March capacity and speed
Late Game (Castle 25+): 1. T4 and T5 troop unlock research 2. Combat power research chains 3. Hero-specific research unlocks
Speedup Strategy
Rule 1: Use speedups efficiently Don't use fifty 1-minute speedups when a single 1-hour speedup accomplishes the same thing. Reserve smaller speedups for finishing timers near the end of a countdown.
Rule 2: Strategic timing Use speedups before events that reward research completions — completing research during these events earns bonus points.
Rule 3: Alliance support Alliance members can assist your research, providing a small time reduction (typically 1–5 minutes per assist). Maximize this free acceleration before using your own speedups.
Rule 4: Never let queues go empty Always have a research running. Even small researches keep progress moving while you save speedups for critical unlocks.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How do speedups work in Kingshot?
- Speedups are consumable items that instantly reduce timer countdowns. Each speedup has a time value (1-minute, 15-minute, 1-hour, 8-hour, etc.). When applied to a research timer, that amount of time is immediately subtracted from the remaining duration. General speedups work on all timers; research-specific speedups only apply to research.
- What research should I prioritize in Kingshot?
- Early: economy and construction. Mid-game: T3 troop unlock is the biggest power spike — prioritize this with speedups. Late game: T4/T5 unlock research. Combat stats (troop attack, defense) are always valuable. Avoid spreading research evenly — focus resources for efficient progression.
- Does alliance help reduce research time in Kingshot?
- Yes — alliance members can assist your research, each providing a small time reduction (typically 1–5 minutes per assist, up to a daily maximum). Alliance technology research also provides passive bonuses to all member research speeds. Being active in an alliance is one of the best free research acceleration methods.
- How much research speed is enough in Kingshot?
- More research speed always helps, but diminishing returns apply in practice. Aim for 30–50% research speed from passive sources (Research Center + commander bonuses + alliance tech). Beyond that, optimize through active speedup usage rather than purely chasing more speed percentage.
