How to Use This Calculator

Enter the audiobook's original duration in hours and minutes, then enter a playback speed such as 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, or 2. The calculator will estimate the new listening time.

Formula & Methodology

Adjusted listening time = Original duration ÷ Playback speed. Time saved = Original duration − Adjusted listening time.

Example: 10-Hour Audiobook at 1.5× Speed

A 10-hour audiobook contains 600 minutes. At 1.5× speed, the adjusted listening time is 400 minutes, or 6 hours and 40 minutes. You save 200 minutes, or 3 hours and 20 minutes.

The estimate assumes the audiobook plays continuously at one constant speed. It does not account for pauses, rewinding, chapter breaks, advertisements, app-specific silence reduction, introductions, credits, or changes in playback speed during listening.
