How to Use This Calculator

Use the tuition and scholarship figures in the actual offer and current school disclosures. Enter the number of academic years, expected annual tuition increase, and a conservative renewal probability when the award has conditions. Use 100% only when you are intentionally modeling full renewal.

Formula & Methodology

Tuition is projected year by year using the entered annual growth rate. The scholarship is capped at each year's tuition. Full scholarship value adds the annual awards. Risk-adjusted scholarship value multiplies later-year awards by the renewal probability. Net tuition subtracts the relevant scholarship value from projected tuition.

Example: $30,000 per year for three years

A $30,000 annual award over three years has a $90,000 nominal full-renewal value before tuition caps. A lower renewal assumption produces a more conservative planning value.

This tool does not determine scholarship eligibility or interpret every offer condition. It excludes fees, living expenses, taxes, external aid, need-based grants, loan terms, summer tuition, enrollment changes, and school-specific stacking rules unless included manually.

Planning tool only. Read the complete award letter, renewal conditions, official tuition schedule, and ABA scholarship-retention disclosures. Confirm questions with the school.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculator predict whether I will receive a scholarship?
No. It values an actual or hypothetical award entered by the user.
What is a conditional scholarship?
It is an award that requires the student to satisfy stated conditions for retention, such as a GPA, class standing, enrollment status, or service requirement.
Why include a renewal probability?
It creates a conservative planning scenario when future-year renewal is uncertain. It is not a statistical prediction from the school.
Does the result include living expenses?
No. The default model focuses on tuition. Add fees and living costs separately when comparing total cost of attendance.
Where can I check scholarship retention data?
Review the school's current ABA Standard 509 disclosures, award terms, and financial-aid information.
