How to Use This Calculator

Enter your current Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, Ranged, Magic, and Prayer levels. The calculator compares melee, ranged, and magic contributions and uses the highest one to determine your combat level.

Formula & Methodology

OSRS combat level combines a base component from Defence, Hitpoints, and half of Prayer with the highest offensive component from melee, ranged, or magic. The final displayed combat level is rounded down to a whole number.

Example: Balanced Level 70 Combat Stats

A player with 70 Attack, 70 Strength, 70 Defence, 70 Hitpoints, 70 Ranged, 70 Magic, and 52 Prayer has a precise combat value of 87.75 and a displayed combat level of 87.

This calculator uses the standard Old School RuneScape player combat-level formula. It does not calculate total level, experience remaining, virtual levels, exact training recommendations, or the number of levels required to reach the next combat level. Temporary stat boosts do not permanently change the displayed combat level.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is combat level calculated in OSRS?
Combat level is calculated from Defence, Hitpoints, Prayer, Attack, Strength, Ranged, and Magic. The formula adds a base component to whichever offensive contribution is highest: melee, ranged, or magic.
What is the maximum combat level in OSRS?
The normal maximum player combat level in Old School RuneScape is 126.
Does Prayer increase combat level?
Yes. Half of your Prayer level, rounded down within the formula, contributes to the base portion of your combat level.
Do Ranged and Magic both increase combat level?
The formula compares the ranged and magic contributions with the melee contribution. Only the largest offensive contribution is used in the final combat-level calculation.
Can training a combat skill leave my combat level unchanged?
Yes. Raising an offensive skill may not increase your displayed combat level if another combat style already gives a higher contribution or the increase is not enough to reach the next whole level.
Do temporary boosts change combat level?
No. The displayed combat level is based on permanent skill levels rather than temporary potion, prayer, or other stat boosts.
Why is my combat level rounded down?
The combat formula can produce a decimal value, but the in-game combat level is displayed as the whole-number value below it.
Is combat level the same as total level?
No. Combat level uses only combat-related skills, while total level is the sum of all skill levels on the account.
