How to Use This Calculator
For a term-only calculation, leave current UF GPA credits and current cumulative GPA at zero. For a projected cumulative result, use the UF cumulative credits and GPA shown in ONE.UF. Do not enter W, H, I*, N*, S, U, transfer grades, or other work excluded from the UF GPA.
Formula & Methodology
Each course contributes grade points equal to its UF grade value multiplied by its semester credits. Term GPA equals total term grade points divided by graded credits. Projected cumulative GPA equals current grade points plus new term grade points, divided by current UF GPA credits plus new graded credits. UF displays GPA to the hundredths place without rounding up.
Example: 45 UF GPA credits at 3.20
A student with 45 UF GPA credits and a 3.20 cumulative GPA has 144.00 current grade points. An A in a 4-credit course, a B+ in a 3-credit course, and a B in a 3-credit course add 34.99 grade points across 10 credits. The projected GPA is 178.99 / 55 = 3.2543..., displayed by UF as 3.25.

- What grading scale does the University of Florida use?
- For credit earned effective Summer A 2009, UF publishes A 4.0, A- 3.67, B+ 3.33, B 3.0, B- 2.67, C+ 2.33, C 2.0, C- 1.67, D+ 1.33, D 1.0, D- 0.67, and E 0.0.
- Does UF round GPA to two decimal places?
- UF states that GPA is displayed to the hundredths place and is not rounded up. For example, 3.248 is displayed as 3.24.
- Do repeated UF courses replace the earlier grade?
- No automatic grade replacement applies under the current catalog rule. UF coursework that is repeated is generally counted in the UF GPA as many times as grades are recorded, while credit is awarded only once.
- Do transfer grades count in the UF GPA?
- No. UF states that grades received at other institutions are not averaged with UF grades for university GPA requirements.
- Do S and U grades affect the UF GPA?
- UF states that grades earned under the S/U option do not carry grade-point values and are not computed in the UF GPA.
- Which zero-point UF grades count in GPA?
- UF lists E, WF, I, and NG as failing grades with zero grade points that count in GPA. W, H, I*, N*, and U are listed as non-punitive and not counted in GPA.
