How to Use This Calculator
For a term-only result, leave current GPA credits and cumulative GPA at zero. For a projected cumulative result, use the institutional GPA credits and GPA shown in my.sc.edu. Leave out coursework excluded from the official GPA.
Formula & Methodology
Each course contributes grade points equal to grade value multiplied by course credits. Term GPA equals term grade points divided by graded credits. Projected cumulative GPA combines current grade points with the new term.
Example: 45 GPA credits at 3.20
With 45 GPA credits at 3.20, current grade points equal 144.00. Add the new term grade points and credits, then divide combined grade points by combined GPA credits.
This calculator is an estimate. It cannot inspect my.sc.edu, apply petitions, resolve repeat-course exceptions, or determine program-specific academic requirements.

- How are repeated courses treated?
- South Carolina academic-forgiveness or repeat treatment should be taken from the official record after it has been applied. Do not remove grades manually unless the institutional GPA reflects that change.
- Which grades should be excluded?
- AUD, I, IP, NG, NR, S/U, T/U, and W do not affect the ordinary GPA while they retain those symbols. FN and WF carry failing GPA treatment.
