How to Use This Calculator
Select your current and target Herblore levels. Enter the XP gained per completed potion or action, herbs and secondary ingredients used per action, actions per hour, ingredient costs, and the value of the finished output. Use current prices and a realistic long-session rate.
Formula & Methodology
XP remaining equals target XP minus current XP, clamped at zero. Actions needed equal XP remaining divided by XP per action and rounded up. Ingredient totals multiply actions by the quantity used per action. Gross input cost adds herb, secondary, and other costs. Gross output value multiplies actions by finished-product value. Net cost is input cost minus output value. GP per XP divides net cost by XP remaining. Estimated hours divide actions by actions per hour.
Manual potion-making example
If a method gives 100 XP per potion, uses one herb and one secondary ingredient, and you have 500,000 XP remaining, the calculator returns 5,000 completed actions before price and speed assumptions.
This calculator does not fetch Hiscores or live Grand Exchange prices. It does not automatically model unfinished potions, decanting, amulets, goggles, portable effects, wasteless effects, raids, minigames, variable yields, buy limits, opportunity cost, or every method-specific exception. Represent special methods through realistic average XP, item-use, cost, output, and speed inputs.
Old School RuneScape methods, prices, and achievable rates can change. Verify current requirements and prices before buying a large quantity of supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does the OSRS Herblore calculator work?
- It converts the difference between current and target XP into completed actions using your XP-per-action value, then calculates ingredients, cost, output value, and time.
- Does it use live Grand Exchange prices?
- No. Enter current herb, secondary ingredient, other material, and finished-product values manually.
- Can I calculate profitable Herblore methods?
- Yes. When output value is greater than total input cost, the net-cost result becomes negative, representing an expected profit.
- Does it include unfinished potions?
- Not automatically. Include their purchase or preparation value in the herb, other-cost, or output assumptions.
- Why does the calculator round actions up?
- A level goal normally requires a whole completed action, so the result is rounded up.
