How to Use This Calculator

Select your current and target Fishing levels. Enter XP per successful catch, successful catches per hour, expected success rate, value per successful catch, bait or supply cost per attempt, and any fixed cost per hour.

Formula & Methodology

Successful catches needed equal XP remaining divided by XP per successful catch and rounded up. Attempts needed equal successful catches divided by success rate and rounded up. Estimated time divides successful catches by catches per hour. Total catch value multiplies successful catches by value per catch. Variable supply cost multiplies attempts by cost per attempt. Fixed cost multiplies estimated hours by hourly cost. Net value equals catch value minus total cost. XP per hour multiplies XP per successful catch by catches per hour.

Fishing method example

If a catch gives 100 XP and your goal requires 500,000 XP, you need 5,000 successful catches. At 800 successful catches per hour, the estimate is 6.25 hours before interruptions.

The calculator does not automatically model spot movement, catch-rate formulas, level scaling, equipment, boosts, tick manipulation, banking, dropping, multi-catch mechanics, Tempoross rewards, aerial fishing, drift-net fishing, barbarian fishing side XP, or live Grand Exchange prices. Use realistic averages for the exact method.

Fishing rates and prices can change. Actual results depend on level, location, equipment, method, attention, and market conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the OSRS Fishing calculator work?
It converts XP remaining into successful catches using your XP-per-catch value, then estimates attempts, time, value, and costs.
What should I enter for catches per hour?
Use a realistic long-session average for the exact fishing method, location, level, and banking or dropping strategy.
Does it use live Grand Exchange prices?
No. Enter the current value per successful catch and any bait or supply cost manually.
Can it calculate tick-manipulation methods?
Yes, but only when you enter a realistic achieved rate and all relevant costs manually.
Why are catch attempts different from successful catches?
When success rate is below 100%, more attempts are required than successful catches.
